Since the Ardboy’s introduction in 2337, there have been several variants produced. One of the most common is the Ardboss TFDB (“tank for da boss”), a command vehicle, introduced in 2342.
The Ardboss replaces the infantry capacity to put in a full command and control centre, with additional communications arrays. Some of the roof hatches are sacrificed to add the communications gear and a sensor pylon, which increases the effective range of the Ardboss’ sensors by 50%. To fit the mast, the autocannon turret is replaced with a smaller, uncrewed blasterbeam point-defence turret. This lighter system is primarily for self-defence, since as a command vehicle, the Ardboss is not expected to engage in actual combat.
It is not unknown for the limited spare space on the Ardboss to carry a small squad of specialists or infiltrators (almost by definition high orc-kin), who often operate on foot. On the battlefield once dropped off by the Ardboss.
Other known variants include a weapons carrier (the WellArdboy) in 2339 and, surprisingly given its weight, an amphibious assault vehicle (the Ardboat) in 2340.
