The Goliath Troopers are the heaviest infantry fielded by the Last Legion. Clad in heavy suits of Tortoise MKIII armor, more akin to a single-person armored vehicle than a battle suit, they plow through enemy forces with the might of a locomotive, clearing the way for their brothers in arms to storm enemy strongholds or secure strategic positions. Some specialist Goliath squads, known as "Smelters", replace their brethren's traditional repeating bolt rifle with the "Pike" microwave gun, a nasty experimental directed energy weapon that superheats targets from the inside out, causing metal, stone and flesh to boil internally and melt into puddles of charred mush. These specialist heavy infantry are protected from the weapon's brutal effects by the thick plating of their suits, allowing them to wade into the fray and unload at point-blank range, melting through the enemy lines and leaving a trail of charred bodies in their wake.
